The Success of Your Business Depends on Reaching Your Target Audience

posted on 13 February 2012

It's no secret that in this day and age when an entrepreneur needs to market a business or a product, they often turn to the internet. With the help of social media, the internet is the ideal way to reach your consumers. However, I am much more of a traditionalist, and I would argue that some of the old fashioned ways offer a more rewarding experience. This includes radio advertisements, promotional bags, magazine ads, and the list goes on. Having said that, your main focus should always be reaching your target audience. If you own a record label that distributes heavy metal music, the last place you're going to want to promote your product is in a magazine for middle-aged women who enjoy gardening. Do a little research on the audience you are trying to reach, and relay your advertisements using outlets relative to their interests. If you're looking to reach young females, promote your business on a pop radio station. If you're looking to reach older gentlemen, perhaps ads in a magazine about fishing or hunting would do just fine. It's all about discovering your target audience and aiming your business directly at them. There's no sense in wasting your time promoting your business where your target audience is unlikely to see or hear it.

Savings: Everyone Can Have a Savings Account

I have read a lot of motivational books in relation to accumulating wealth and avoidingbankruptcy. Many of them outline that it is vital to pay yourself first prior to spending. I believe this theory is true as I have been following this principle for a couple of years and have an established savings account. Each fortnight I always pay directly into my savings account which pays a great yield. Each fortnight I make a list of expenses and ensure I have enough cash to cover the costs. I do not own a credit card or even a debit card as it causes overspending. I find if I pay cash for items it makes me realize how much I really am spending. Previously when I paid with a credit card I was oblivious to the fact that I was buying items that I did not really need. I also stay away from bulk buys because if I have the food in the house chances are I will over eat and there will be no savings to be had.
